As a small locally owned business, we know reputation is everything. We are committed to providing an entertainment experience that exceeds our clients’ expectations. When it comes to costumes, performer talent, and program planning, our focus is on quality. Unlike many character companies, we also include a character attendant with EVERY booking to make sure the performer at your event never has to break character and that the interactive performance runs smoothly from start to finish. All our cast members are experienced working with kids and families in addition to being highly trained professional performers. We know planning a party can be stressful, but our experience in event logistics and details means you can get back to enjoying the moment. At Starbright Entertainment we know it's not just a party, it's a memory in the making.
What area does Starbright Entertainment serve?

Our rates cover travel to locations within Washtenaw County which includes Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Saline, Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, and Barton Hills. We are happy to work with you on events outside Washtenaw County for an additional travel fee. Contact us for details!
Is this a babysitting service?

Our cast delivers high quality interactive entertainment that consists of both one-on-one interactions and whole-group activities. Our experienced character attendants will help manage child guests during the visit. However our cast members don’t provide childcare. The party host and/or child guests’ caregivers must remain in charge of the children at all times. Plus, the grown-ups will want to be around to join in the fun too!
Can I purchase party favors through Starbright Entertainment?

Yes! You can add goodie bags, a coronation with keepsake tiaras or crowns, and more to customize your party package and wow your guests long after the party’s over! Check out our Birthday Parties page for more details.
Who are character and princess parties for?

Our programming is geared towards children 1 to 12 years old. However, children of all ages (and their adults!) love meeting and interacting with our characters. Boys, girls, and children of all genders enjoy seeing their favorite characters come to life and participating in our interactive performances!
Where can I host a party?

Your home, backyard, a local park, or a rented venue are all popular locations!
Many clients host character parties right in their homes! Our cast members will adapt the program to fit your space and needs. An area that can accommodate your entire group for a seated storytime and dance party is ideal (an open space in a carpeted living room or play room works great for this!). If your party package includes glitter tattoos or a dazzle face painter, please provide a small table space and 2 chairs. (Tell our party coordinators if you need help accommodating this request, and we’ll work with you!)
Our characters can also join you for a party at another venue! If you are hosting a party at a rented venue or an indoor play space, please confirm with the venue that they allow third party character vendors and any additional services you booked such as glitter tattoo application or dazzle face painting.
Our characters love frolicking outdoors! However, if you are planning an outside party, please have a backup plan in case of inclement weather such as rain, snow, or excessive heat. We do not refund deposits for outdoor parties canceled due to weather.
What do you supply at the party?

Starbright Entertainment provides all the materials needed for the interactive programming including books, speakers, materials for services such as glitter tattoo application and dazzle face painting, and any purchased customizations such as goodie bags. We do not provide food, cake, paper products, dress up clothes (besides tiaras and crowns for coronation purchases), or decorations.
How far in advance should I book my event?

We recommend booking at least 3 weeks in advance for best time and character selection. Please book with us before sending out your party invitations to ensure your character is available for your preferred date and time. Planning a last-minute event? Don’t worry. We may still have room in our calendar to accommodate you!
Should I give a gratuity to my performer?

If you feel our cast members went above and beyond to make your event magical, tips are always appreciated, but not required. You will have the opportunity to leave gratuity when closing out your balance after your event. If you’d like to give a cash tip, we ask that you give it to the character attendant to preserve the magic. It’s Starbright Entertainment’s policy to share tips equally between all non-owner service providers that worked an event, but if you would like your gratuity distributed differently, just let us know!
Will Starbright Entertainment donate to my nonprofit?
